Conference Guest Speakers:

Kendra Ham, MD, FAAP,

Dr. Ham is a double board-certified pediatrician in both General Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics. She was born and raised in Greenville, SC. She is a graduate of the College of Charleston where she received dual degrees in Biology and Spanish. She received her MD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2010. In 2013, she completed her 3-year General Pediatrics residency at the Medical College of Georgia, now known as Augusta University. In 2016, Dr. Ham completed a 3-year fellowship program in Child Abuse Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina and remained there after the fellowship as Clinic Director. In October 2017, she started a new role as Regional Medical Director for the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital Child Advocacy Center (Concord, NC) and Butterfly House Child Advocacy Center (Albemarle, NC), which are affiliated with Atrium Health. In addition, she consults on inpatient admissions where there is concern for child abuse at Levine Children’s Hospital. She had the honor of presenting her research on the treatment of chlamydia infections in children in Oxford, England in 2016, and is working diligently to publish this research. She enjoys playing the piano, buying earrings, and watching football.

 

Katherine O’Reilly, BA

Facilitator of “Parenting the Love and Logic Way” and “Nine Essential Skills for the Classroom” for Teen Health Connection since 2014. Additionally, she provides professional development for high school and middle school teachers in Cabarrus, Union, and Mecklenburg county schools. She facilitates the course for both professionals and parents of adolescents. She has facilitated for Atrium’s EAP therapists and staff, for DSS ordered family’s court, and families served through the Charlotte Housing Authority. She recently served as a panelist for the Mecklenburg Medical alliance addressing the concerns with technology overuse in homes. Assists the “Love and Logic Institute” in Golden, Colorado each year in training new facilitators. In addition to her facilitator role, she is coordinator of the Girls Educated and Motivated for Success (GEMS) youth led pregnancy prevention program.

Katherine earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Winston Salem State University where she focused on social issues and cultural diversity. She selected and completed the accelerated cohort of Teach Charlotte which focused on licensure for Special Education serving at- risk high needs school students. She earned her NC special education licensure for grades K-12 and served the students and families at Harding University High School.

Prior to her professional career she was a volunteer for 18 years in her faith community and local schools where her five children attended. Her children are ages 31, 30,27, 21 and 13. She has two grandchildren.

Her interests are herb gardening, fermenting Kombucha and cooking. Her favorite authors are Marianne Williamson and Maya Angelou. Her heroes are St. Francis Assisi, Joan of Arc, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Conference Clergy and Worship Leaders

Matthew Stalnaker, M.Div. serves as Chaplain in the Department for Spiritual Care and Wholeness at Cone Health where he provides spiritual care for the patients of Wesley Long Hospital and Behavioral Health Hospital of Greensboro. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, Matthew holds degrees from Campbell University (BA) and The Wake Forest University School of Divinity (MDiv).  He completed residency in pastoral care at University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill, where he specialized in Neuroscience and Psychiatry.

 


Reverend Ray L. Watlington, M.Div., BCC is an ordained veteran Baptist Pastor and is an APC Board Certified Chaplain. He currently serves as the staff Chaplain for the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He is an active member of the NC Chaplain Association and the Association for Professional Chaplain. He is also the author of Preaching as a Means of Pastoral Care, published by Brentwood Press in 2002. Ray currently serves on the Carolinas Health Ministry Partnership Board and is an active member on the Education Committee.

Wanda Clary, MSN,RN  is a  masters prepared registered nurse with a post graduate certificate in nursing education. She is the Nurse Planner for educational offerings and serves Lincoln and Gaston Counties as the Faith Community Health Ministry Coordinator with Atrium Health .
